She is a systematic practitioner, having trained at the Tavistock Clinic in London. She also has a Masters in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) with additional specialist training in treating the effects of psychological trauma (using EMDR).
Shirah is passionately committed to working collaboratively with her clients She is trained in the treatment of trauma and carries out extensive assessment in treating trauma using EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing) and works to help clients alleviate symptoms to live their lives as peacefully as possible. She adopts a client-centred approach that draws from mindfulness training and uses imaginative and creative methods to combine traditional therapeutic approaches like CBT and Psychodynamic with the creative part of an individual’s talents, enabling self-soothing and building resilience.
Shirah is a qualified registered mental health nurse and registered general nurse, combining her interest in how physical and mental illness impact each other. Her specialisms include helping and supporting individuals, couples and families in areas, amongst others, that include anxiety, OCD, depression, addiction, the effects of abuse, sexual difficulties and the impact of health problems.
She has worked in and led a mental well-being team and managed the counselling service in a large London comprehensive school for over sixteen years. Consequently, she has extensive experience of working with adolescents. She is currently a consultant therapist at the Istituto Maragoni, London, a leading global graduate school for young people studying creative arts, fashion and design.
She has been engaged in organisational critical events involving complex issues and policy formulation. She has a special interest in Aviation Psychology, specialising in working with crew. Her years of doing shift work in a disciplined and critical environment have given her an insight into the pressures that crew face. She is also interested in the challenges emergency services and armed forces have to face in their work and the impact this may have on their mental wellbeing. Having spent many years working in high-risk, sometimes unpredictable and often highly charged working environments, her psychotherapeutic style is calm, contained, and respectful. She also works in a time-sensitive way, seeking to bring compassion, understanding and working solutions to human problems as rapidly as is possible. As well as face- to- face therapy, she offers online.
Her philosophy is that every experience can be an opportunity for personal growth and her response is to help build the strength to facilitate healing. She adopts a holistic approach to therapy within NICE Guidelines and the Ethical Framework of Counselling (BACP).

Ian Long is a counselling and peer support psychotherapist registered with the NCPS.
For 40 years, Ian has worked in aviation. He flew operationally in the RAF and is now an experienced commercial pilot, flying as a Captain for British Airways. Dr Juliana S. Ormrod is a Counselling Psychologist registered with the Health and Care Professions Council and Chartered by the British Psychological Society. She has been working in mental health for twelve years, the last seven of these as a psychotherapist. Since 2012, she has worked in a range of clinical and academic roles, including primary and secondary care within the NHS (IAPT, Complex Trauma), and as Associate Lecturer in Forensic Psychology for the Open University.
Her practice is integrative. She draws on a range of disciplines to find a bespoke approach for each individual client. For many, this begins with short-term stabilisation techniques, such as CBT, Coaching, mindfulness or externalisation, creating distance from distress to make life liveable again. Such short-term work may be sufficient in itself, or it may invigorate the client’s curiosity about their life and the origins of their symptoms, which can then be investigated through medium- and long-term psychotherapy.
Juliana works with individuals, couples and families, including adolescents. All of her work is informed by an interest in language and stories, and the relationship between these and our bodies. This is reflected in her Doctoral research, which investigated the ways in which ‘Emotional Narrative Processing’ can facilitate our understanding of our emotions and our ability to process them.
Prior to this, she worked as a researcher on a large-scale study into Major Depressive Disorder at Newcastle University. She has also provided counselling for a number of mental health charities, including Mind, as well as facilitating community projects encouraging public understanding of psychological issues.
Fiona Paton is a Counselling Psychologist registered with the Health and Care Professions Council and Chartered by the British Psychological Society. She is an experienced educator of adults and has lectured and taught in a number of UK universities.
Fiona recently returned from spending several years working overseas for International SOS, consulting for one of their major international client companies in an extreme and remote area of Indonesia. Her experience included working with expatriate individuals, couples and families living and working in extreme, highly charged, frequently changing and often dangerous conditions; facilitating group processes for diverse audiences, as well as working cross-culturally at an organisational level. Many years living and working in an unpredictable environment has led Fiona to develop a therapeutic style which is calm, relaxed, adaptable and highly responsive to change and individual needs.
Fiona’s work is integrative, drawing on a number of therapeutic approaches, based on established national clinical and organisational guidelines. She is passionate about providing a bespoke service, working collaboratively with clients and matching a client’s needs to the most appropriate treatment, whilst working in a timely manner. She draws on cognitive behavioural therapy and solution-focussed therapy within a client-centred framework. Fiona is trained in the treatment of trauma using EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing) and has extensive experience working with trauma across a variety of settings from industrial accident and terrorism to sexual abuse and assault. She is also qualified in clinical hypnosis and draws on this approach as required.
